Our fourth project in Commercial Art was an illustration of a pet. I chose an old picture of my dog that I had. We used Adobe Illustrator and it's pen tool to trace the real shapes and colors of the image we chose. I wish I had gone for a more detailed and layered style instead of the simplistic one I did, but I still like the final result. Overall I enjoyed the project and would love to do it again.
For our third project if the nine-week course we had in an introduction to printmaking. We took a picture of ourselves, and eventually, after a long, complex process we had a set of self-portraits like the one you see here. This project was especially challenging because anything to do with faces is way out of my comfort zone, and I think it shows. I was nervous when making the lino-cut and I feel like had I been calmer it would have turned out much better. I do like the chatter on and around my face because of the texture it added, but I do feel I could have done much better.
As we were winding down towards the end of our course, we started to do more difficult and complicated projects. For this one we carved a picture we had taken into plexiglass and made prints through a process called drypoint etching, where ink we lay down is pulled out of the carvings we made. i wish I had carved my image backward so the print was right but other than that I'm really happy with the final result.

Moving more into design, we started making posters. We could do it on anything, so I let my mind run a bit wild and came up with the idea of mountains kind of slowly fading into a big city. It ended up being a poster for a Architecture company. We used Adobe Illustrator for the entire project. I wish we had had more time so I could have learned to do the style of the buildings better, but I am fairly happy with the result seeing as how it was completely out of my comfort zone.

For the final project of the course, we made a T_shirt design to screen print. Screenprinting is a fairly complex process where we use a stencil(hand cut of course) over a screen and push ink through it. I did the skeleton you can see on the left on a t-shirt and I don't really like the final result. Printing this way didn't produce the clearest results, but overall this was a fun project in a fun course.e

For our second project of the course, we created a geo-filter. I had recently been to Seattle so I wanted to do something on it. The idea for the snake honestly just popped into my head randomly, and I went with it. I printed the picture of Seattle you see, drew a rough version of the snake, and digitized it using Adobe Illustrator. I then cleaned up the lines and added color, as well as the text. Overall I like the way it turned out and would love to do the project again.

For our first project in commercial art, we made a zine. A zine is basically a mini-magazine, with a unified theme and art-text style. I did mine on my friends, or an interpretation of my friends to be precise. I drew some of my friends as food. The crosshatch-heavy but still simple style I chose really directed attention towards my message and no the art itself. I really wanted this project to turn out great, and it did. I am very happy with the end result and I think it sends a strong message.
